Entrepreneur.com reported on August 25th, 2015 that Uber has a bigger impact on DUI deaths than law enforcement. Imagine a world where market forces make the world safer than police, courts, and incarceration. According to researchers at Temple University, a study saw a 3.5 % to 5% reduction in one year in cities where Uber.com operated. By contrast, stricter police enforcement only reduced DUI Deaths by about 7% nationally in the five years from 2009 to 2014 going from 10759 to 10,076 deaths. Extrapolating the data like the government does over 5 years would mean that Uber.com would result in a 25% reduction in DUI deaths over 5 years. This is almost 4 times more effective than police DUI enforcement and at 100% lower cost. The drug war could take a lesson or two.
