What is a Honey Badger – Atlanta DUI Officer hit and injured by DUI driver chases him down for the arrest

CBS46.com reported on August 20, 2014.  While conducting a routine traffic stop, an Atlanta DUI Task Force Police Officer was reportedly rear-ended by a DUI -Drunk Driver who then fled in a red pick-up truck;  and, despite suffering neck and back injuries, the Officer chased down the perp to a local gas station where he initiated a DUI investigation. The accused DUI driver was later arrested after submitting to DUI field sobriety evaluations.  News video showed the suspect having difficulty getting into the instructional stance for the 9 step walk and turn. The Officer who has not been named by news sources remains unknown.  This DUI Officer wins the prestigious Honey Badger Award for DUI law enforcement which entitles the recipient to free cool beverage compliments of the George C. A DUI accident can be a felony if there is a serious injury associated with it under OCGA 40-6-394 as well as fleeing and under OCGA 40-6-395 eluding a police officer while either: operating a vehicle in excess of 20 miles an hour above the posted speed limit; striking or colliding with another vehicle or a pedestrian;  fleeing in traffic conditions which place the general public at risk of receiving serious injuries or committing a violation of paragraph (5) of subsection (a) of Code Section 40-6-391, i.e, driving with a breath or blood alcohol content over 0.08.  OCGA § 40-5-55(c) defines the phrase “traffic accident resulting in serious injuries” as meaning “any motor vehicle accident in which…one or more persons suffered a fractured bone, severe burns, disfigurement, dismemberment, partial or total loss of sight or hearing, or loss of consciousness.”
