How to Hire a Lawyer for an Sandy Springs DUI
An Sandy Springs DUI is Serious and Can Result in Jail Time, Fines, and Lengthy License Suspensions – DO NOT Try to Represent Yourself
Under Georgia law for a first DUI you can be fined up to $1000.00 with 100% tacked on as court costs, spend up to 12 months, do 40 hours community service, be subject to drug and alcohol testing for one year and serve 12 months of reporting probation with a $40 to $50 dollar a month supervision fee. Your license can be suspended anywhere from 120 days to 5 years. Do not try to go court on your DUI without an experienced Sandy Springs DUI attorney.
Advice as to who you decide to hire as your Sandy Springs DUI lawyer: 1) Don’t hire a DUI lawyer based solely on price. Sometimes the cheapest lawyer–especially if they plea you to a DUI you don’t deserve at the first opportunity–can be the most expensive. Cost per hour is the best way to compare lawyers. If a lawyer charges $1000, but only spends an hour on your case, that’s $1000 dollars an hour! We, unlike bargain basement firms, spend an average of 10 hours on every DUI case. 2) Ask any attorney that you speak with whether he/she has tried any DUI jury trials and how many not guilty verdicts he/she has received in the past 2 years; 3) Ask any attorney that you speak with whether he/she has studied police field sobriety training manuals and breath test machine, owner’s and area supervisor’s manuals. If not, they cannot adequately cross examine DUI police officers or breath test operators. A DUI lawyer who can’t answer these questions is not ready for a real DUI jury trial and is not worth your time and money.

Three interesting facts about Sandy Springs, Georgia
- Long Fight for Incorporation: Sandy Springs became an independent city on December 1, 2005, after a 40-year struggle for incorporation. Residents, led by Eva Galambos, who later became the first mayor, began pushing back against annexation attempts by Atlanta in 1966. Their efforts culminated in a 2005 referendum where 94% of voters approved cityhood, making it Georgia’s seventh-largest city today with a population of over 108,000 as of the 2020 census. This persistence reflects a strong community drive for local control.
- Named for Natural Springs: The city gets its name from the sandy springs that once served as a vital watering stop for Native Americans as early as 400 CE. These springs, near where the Creek Muskogee tribe settled in the 16th century, later inspired Wilson Spruill to donate land in 1851 for the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. You can still visit the original springs at Heritage Green, a four-acre park that preserves this piece of history.
- Corporate Hub with a Southern Twist: Sandy Springs is a major business center, hosting headquarters for companies like UPS, Mercedes-Benz USA, and Cox Enterprises, boasting more Fortune 500 companies per capita than any other U.S. city. Despite this corporate clout, it retains a suburban charm with over 950 acres of parks, including access to 22 miles of the Chattahoochee River for kayaking and hiking, blending urban sophistication with Southern hospitality and natural beauty.
These facts highlight Sandy Springs’ unique blend of history, community spirit, and modern significance just north of Atlanta.
Four Reasons Our Sandy Springs DUI Attorneys Stand Apart from Other DUI Lawyers
Here are four reasons why George C. Creal, Jr., P.C., Trial Lawyers, Sandy Springs DUI law firm, stands out from other law firms:
- Extensive Trial Experience with Proven Results: George C. Creal, Jr., and his team have over 50 years of combined courtroom experience, with a notable track record of securing over 100 not guilty jury verdicts in DUI cases. Unlike many firms that push for quick plea deals, they emphasize taking cases to trial when necessary, earning them a reputation as "real deal" trial lawyers who fight aggressively for their clients’ rights.
- Deep Knowledge of DUI Law and Legal Innovation: George Creal and his team are recognized for not just knowing DUI law but shaping it, having argued multiple cases before the Georgia Supreme Court and won numerous appeals in the Georgia Court of Appeals on DUI issues. This expertise allows the firm to craft cutting-edge defenses, leveraging technicalities like unconstitutional evidence collection or flaws in field sobriety tests, setting them apart from firms with less legal depth.
- Personalized, Client-Focused Approach: The firm limits its DUI caseload to ensure thorough, individualized attention for each client, spending a higher average amount of time per case compared to bargain firms that might rush through your case with drive-thru justice. They have a one lawyer-one client philosophy and do not use a team DUI approach where your case is passed off to less-experienced associates. They offer transparent communication and pricing—providing signed fee agreements in every case, cell phone numbers for easy client access and rapid response—contrasting with less accessible or impersonal competitors, fostering trust and tailored strategies.
- Reputation Among Peers and Prosecutors: Known as "Georgia’s Real Deal DUI Lawyers," the firm’s reputation precedes it in Sandy Springs and metro Atlanta courts. Judges, prosecutors, and even law enforcement reportedly turn to the Creal firm for personal referrals, a testament to their credibility and influence, which can lead to better negotiation outcomes where other firms might falter.
These distinctions highlight their blend of tenacity, expertise, and client commitment, rooted in their Sandy Springs practice and broader Georgia presence.
